As a part-time PhD Candidate in the Department of Medical Statistics and the Electronic Health Records group, I’m investigating methodologies for handling cluster-level covariates in causal inference, particularly for estimating vaccine effectiveness from observational data.  I’m also exploring the intersection of mathematical modelling of infectious diseases and causal inference analyses.

Currently, I’m the Head of the Department of Epidemiology and Deputy Director at the Institute of Medical Biometry and Epidemiology at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany. As a Deputy Professor in Epidemiology, I’m committed to strengthening epidemiological research and fostering strong connections between methodology, population health and clinical practice.

My medical training began in Hamburg, Germany, where I am specialising in Forensic Pathology. I pursued a Master’s degree in Medical Statistics with Distinction at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2023.
