Dr Emmanuel Chukwuwiken Okoh graduated in Medicine and Surgery at College of Medicine, Ambrose Alli University Nigeria in 2008, obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) at University of Benin, Nigeria in 2016, and a specialist qualification in Public Health from the West African College of Physicians, Nigeria in 2017. He worked as a clinician at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. He subsequently worked as a field epidemiologist with WHO Edo State (Nigeria) for 2 years where he played an active role in the control of Lassa fever epidemics, surveillance of acute flaccid paralysis, yellow fever, and measles. In 2020, he joined MRC Unit The Gambia at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as a clinical trial research clinician and performed both managerial and clinical duties in the “ETVAX vaccine efficacy and safety trial” and in the comparative study of “Haem iron versus ferrous iron salts in treating iron deficiency anemia in Gambian children”. In 2020, during the Covid-19 outbreak in the Gambia, he worked with the medical team of MRC Unit The Gambia at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as the deputy physician co-ordinator in the management of Covid-19 cases and in setting up the virtual ward clinic for the management of mild and moderate Covid-19 cases.
