BIO

I am a systematic reviewer and public health nutritionist with 15 years’ experience in evidence synthesis methods, implementing and evaluating health policies (especially relating to food), health inequality, and the commercial determinants of health. I am particularly interested in using and developing methods for evaluating food policy, learning from approaches used for other topics. I also now use qualitative methods to evaluate health and social services. My research primarily focuses on England (especially for the Department of Health and Social Care) and globally.

I co-lead the Evidence Synthesis theme at the Centre for Evaluation (LSHTM). I also am associate editor for the Journal of Health Services Research & Policy (evidence synthesis).

Prior to joining the School in 2016, I worked in Canada as a public health nutritionist, promoting health to children and adults in schools, healthcare and community settings. I used both health education approaches and actions to modify the food environment (including implementing the provincial school food policy in 24 schools). I have also coordinated cancer services for the region of Montreal, Canada, which represented the third of hospital admissions for cancer in the province. In the UK, I have taught as a lecturer in the BSc Nutrition and BSc Dietetics at the University of Hertfordshire during two years.

I have completed a BSc in nutrition/dietetics at the Université Laval (Canada) and a joint master’s degree in public health from the Europubhealth programme at the University of Sheffield (UK), University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and the École des Hautes Études en Santé Publique (France). I have completed further training on health technology assessment.
