Research Fellow at LSHTM from March 2020 to March 2026, then Research Assistant from May 2026 to present. Medical Doctor (MD) and Global/Public Health Specialist (MSc, PhD).
Clinician for more than 20 years and Global Health Specialist for 8 years, I have been working in clinical settings in different countries including the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda. As clinician and researcher for both clinical research and public health research projects, I am familiar with different concepts such as incubation periods, latent period, epidemic curve, attack rate, herd immunity, surveillance, etc. Community Engagement and Involvement (CEI) Specialist for more than 12 years. I was responsible of developing and implementing the CEI strategies for all the clinical trials that I was managing in different countries (M/XDR-TB in Tashkent/Uzbekistan, Yellow Fever Vaccine, fractional dose study in Mbarara/Uganda, Yellow Fever Vaccine, dose finding study in Mbarara/Uganda, Ebola vaccine Efficacy and Safety study in Mbarara/Uganda, Ebola vaccine Immunogenicity and Safety study in Goma city/Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Moxidectin trial for Onchocerciasis treatment in Ituri/DRC. My PhD at LSHTM was focused on Community Engagement and Involvement for the response to health crises in Madagascar. In addition, I was also involved in implementing public health research on Community Engagement and Involvement for the response to health crises in Uganda, Ethiopia, and Sierra-Leone.
I was involved in different aspects of clinical activities including infectious diseases control and surveillance. I have conducted research activities in both epidemiological field (including programme evaluation and monitoring) and clinical research including trial and non-trial. So far, I have managed 10 clinical trials with different organisations: LSHTM, MSF, Epicentre, Pharmalys, MDGH. The clinical trials were conducted diverse domain such as vaccine efficacy and effectiveness, drugs testing such as Tranexamic acid, MDR/XDR-TB new regimen for 6 months, Onchocerciasis new treatment (Moxidectin vs Ivermectin), Ivermectin vs Albendazole for Soil-Transmitted Helminths and scabies, etc.
