I am a public health sociologist with a research focus on adolescent health, particularly sexual health, interpersonal violence, and mental health, and on the development and evaluation of school-based interventions addressing these areas. Current projects include a pilot trial of a programme to promote student belonging, improve mental health, and reduce violence in English secondary schools, an effectiveness trial of a whole-school relationships and sexual health intervention for secondary schools in England and work exploring the impacts of police stop and search on crime and mental and emotional wellbeing among children and young people in England. I have a methodological interest in the evaluation of complex public health interventions, and am committed to equitable and decolonial research practice. I am Co-Theme Lead for Process Evaluation at the Centre for Evaluation at LSHTM.
