BIO

I earned my undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Queen Mary, University of London, followed by a Master’s degree in Computer Studies at the University of Essex. I brought these disciplines together in my PhD, A Statistical Model of Internet Traffic, completed at Queen Mary and supported by British Telecommunications.

From 2003 until joining LSHTM in August 2007, I worked as a Research Associate at the University of East Anglia. During this time, I contributed to a range of health and economic research projects, including evaluations of the cost‑effectiveness of wart treatments, health needs assessments in prisons, analyses of contamination in educational trials, and modelling the macro‑economic impacts of SARS and influenza.

At LSHTM, my role is divided between research and teaching programme leadership. Half of my time is dedicated to macroeconomic modelling of health, and the other half is spent serving as Deputy Programme Director for the School’s distance learning programme in Public Health.
