BIO

Saidi Kapiga joined the School in 2007, and is a clinical epidemiologist. Prior to coming to the School, he was an Associate Professor of Reproductive Health at Harvard School of Public Health, MA, USA. Saidi is currently based fulltime in Mwanza, Tanzania where he is the Scientific Director of the Mwanza Intervention Trials Unit (MITU), the Unit established by the School in partnership with the Tanzanian National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR). Saidi is a member of several research and capacity development programmes in East Africa, including the Wellcome Trust funded THRiVE to Research Excellence consortium, and the Lake Victoria Consortium for Health Research that aims to improve the health of populations in fishing communities in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
