My research interests centre on understanding how health interventions and policies are implemented, adapted, and sustained within complex health systems, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Key areas include:

Malaria and infectious disease control
Implementation, delivery, and integration of preventive and treatment interventions, including chemoprevention, vaccines, diagnostics, and vector control, with a focus on coverage, equity, and system integration.

Immunisation, family planning, and nutrition programmes
How routine services and vertical programmes interact, how delivery platforms shape access and uptake, and how co-delivery and integration influence programme performance and user experience.

Health systems, organisations, and institutions
How governance arrangements, decision space, supervision, and accountability influence behaviour, engagement, and decision-making across different levels of the health system.

Learning, adaptation, and quality improvement
How health systems learn from data and experience, why improvement efforts often remain short-lived, and under what conditions learning becomes embedded in routine practice.

Realist and theory-driven approaches
Use and adaptation of realist evaluation, theory of change, and mixed-methods designs to explain how and why interventions work differently across contexts, and to extend these approaches into new areas of global health policy and practice.

Across these themes, my work seeks to generate explanations that travel across disease areas and programmes, contributing to broader debates on implementation, learning, and institutional change in global health.
