BIO

I am a global health researcher interested in how policies, programmes, and health systems actually work in practice, and why similar interventions succeed in some settings but struggle in others. My work focuses on understanding how people, organisations, and institutions interact to shape the delivery, uptake, and sustainability of health interventions in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

I have worked across a range of global health areas, including malaria prevention and control, other infectious diseases including Visceral leishmaniasis, immunisation, family planning, and nutrition. Across these domains, my research asks a common set of questions: how interventions are adapted as they move through health systems, how frontline and managerial actors interpret and respond to programme requirements, and how learning, decision-making, and accountability shape real-world outcomes.

A defining feature of my work is the use and development of theory-driven approaches, particularly realist evaluation and related methods. I am especially interested in adapting these approaches to new policy areas and delivery platforms, and in combining qualitative, quantitative, and comparative methods to generate explanations that are useful for both theory and practice. I work closely with Ministries of Health, research institutions, and implementation partners, with an emphasis on co-production, learning, and long-term system strengthening.
